The 2010/11 season was arguably the best that HBC Juniors has had so far. 2 Junior National medals, many improved BE gradings and to finish it all off Jo and Tracy ecame 40+ Ladies Doubles World Champions in August 2011. There were many amazing individual results and performances as detailed below. Well done to everyone and hopefully anyone who missed out on one of their own personal goals will achieve it in 2011/12. It is all about hard work, but hopefully fun too!!

Top HBC coaches Jo Muggeridge and Tracy Middleton have reached the final of the ladies doubles & look good to win their first world vets championship gold in Canada. They play England's Dineen & Blair today, Saturday having beaten French pair Gersel & Jerome in the semi 21 11, 21 18.No photo's or champagne yet, but knowing Jo the coca-cola will be fizzing post the final match. Tues 30th Aug U13-17 match v Cambridge Badminton Academy
Will Outhwaite, Matthew Tobitt, Guy Jones, Piers Jahn, Luke Bailey, Ethan Solly, Terence Ng, Rory Easton, Thomas Allen, Chloe Bailey, Alex Berry, Emily Easton, Alice Xiao, Paige Butler, Francesca Smith.
The older age group found the U17 players tough losing overall but HBC were stronger at U15. Very enjoyable match, friendly opposition!
10th & 11th August 2011
HBC Juniors live on court at 2011 World Championships........
Yes, we're here at Wembley Arena with 2 squads of 12 court moppers, on court, up close & personal with the best in the world.
Over days 3 & 4 of the world championships, our juniors get a taste of how a BIG competition is run.
Lee Chong Wei helps Emily sort out his half of the court before proceeding onto an easy victory in his last 16 tie.....
Not needing coaching advice he decided to help maintain the court during the 2 minute break, with help from our HBC youngster, Emily!
Tine Baum graciously took time to sign autographs for our juniors after her gruelling 3 setter.
In fact ALL of the badminton stars were more than willing to sign t-shirts & books for our young helpers in the warm-up & press area for players & tournament staff.
Harry Pickford set the trend in asking for his t shirt to be signed rather than an autograph book.
As such there will be a few unwashed tournament shirts in the households of Sevenoaks in the coming months.
Kevin Cordon gets to grip with Harry's t-shirt after his 3 set victory over crowd favourite Pablo Abian.
India became HBC's adopted nation with Molly Shukla's sister stirring up some vocal support for the Indian stars.
They did not disappoint with the Women's Doubles pair of Gutta & Ponnappa winning thru' to the semi-finals having beaten the Chinese 2nd seeds in the previous round & Ajay Jayaram narrowly losing out to defending champion Chen Jin from China.
DOUBLE Olympic champion (2004 & 2008 ladies singles !) Zhang Ning makes time to say hello & sign autographs for our Hildenborough girls back stage at the World Championships.
17th July - U11 team singles tournament at Surrey Sports Park.
With a few of our more experienced U11's away on holiday, 4 HBC juniors travelled (with 3 other Kent juniors) to Surrey looking forward to the experience of playing a wide array of players & perhaps suprising a few to boot.
In the girls singles event our youngsters found the going pretty tough but being 2-3 years younger than the competition is a big disadvantage, so we were mightily impressed by the efforts of 7 year old Holly Williams & 9 year olds Emma McNally & Emily Tilman. All 3 girls will be eligible to play next year & will no doubt benefit from their experience of 8 matches each in the one day!
Emily was our most succesful girl coming away with 3 wins, but she also came close in a few others whilst young Holly managed her first win in such experienced company!
Our boys were more successful on the win/loss ratio with Rory Easton leading from the front & emerging as over-all winner of the boys singles event.
Sadly Park Langley's young star, Brodie McGuire had to pull out of the event having secured a minimum of 8th place having won his box but his achiles tendon was too sore for him to continue. Get better soon Brodie.....
Kieron White, Harry Wang & James Macauley battled ferociously to secure some vital wins for the team & their efforts & sportsmanship were particularly pleasing for the coaches present. Harry & James managed 3 wins a-piece which was good going in a strong field.
Ok, we did not scale the winning heights of last year but we had excellent team spirit & have 5 of our squad that can play again next year - bring it on.....
3rd July - Kent Junior trials
News just in that HBC's 7 year old Holly Williams & 8 year old Libby Saunders have made the Kent Junior u11/13 squad!
Likewise congrats to Chloe Bailey & Jennifer Woodrow for making the u15 squad - awaiting further details on the other u15 & u17 squad places......
STOP PRESS: Sunday 4pm 12th June........
Eltham Green crowned English Cup Champions!
Yes, with 3 of HBC's Junior coaches in the winning team (Jo Muggeridge, Tracy Middleton & Gemma Whiting) & ably managed by a 4th HBC coach in Vic Muggeridge, Eltham Green have already secured the National cup by going 5-1 ahead of Wimbledon in the final in Milton Keynes with the 3 Mixed ties to play.
Well done to Vic & his team for such a tremendous achievement.
5th June 2011
Junior friendly v Hastings BC
HBC fielded 18 juniors with 13 making their debut in a representative match & all children really enjoyed a friendly but competitive match against our guests from Hastings.
It was particularly pleasing to see 4 lads from Eltham Green make star appearances for HBC and whilst not showing the best of technique at times they all came away with at least a win each from their games.
Also figuring strongly were our little ones who put up a great fight in the u11 matches.
Harry Wang & James Macauley led the way in winning all their matches whilst Teddy trenowden found the going a bit tougher. However our girls, Holly, Grace & Libby put up a great fight and came away with a win a piece against some strong u11 girls from Hastings.
Over-all HBC came away with a narrow 24-22 win although Coach pronounced the tie a sporting draw such was the sportsmanship & good nature of the days play.
A re-match is scheduled for Sunday 26th June, where we will look to take another crop of first timers to give them a taste of team play.
26th June 2011 - the return leg: Hastings v HBC
30 degrees outside & our youngsters found themselves by the seaside but in a badminton hall.
14 of our Juniors made the trip & had a great time with many marathon matches with HBC again narrowly edging the tie.
Here we see debutants Thomas & William trying to outwit little Charlie Torjussen of Sussex.
Also featuring strongly were Holly Williams & Thomas Jorgensen as the tussle of u11's was particularly fierce between Hastings & HBC.
In the u13 age group we also had a few new faces on court with Oliver Petrick, Harry Pickford & Charles Brice all having a real go. All 3 lads must have played a good 8 matches by the end of the 3 hours
Here we have Oliver concentrating on his serve....
Our girls dominated the older age groups and so reverted to challenging the Hastings lads. All 4 girls (Emily Easton, Chloe Bailey, Jennifer Woodrow & Amy Hutson) got stuck in and one would have to say it was honours even at the end of the day.
Overall another fantastic days play & we cannot praise our friends at Hastings enough for another great day of competitive sport.
TWBL u11, u13, u15 Open (Full results to download from Junior results)
A wide field in all age groups for the boys events saw the top seeds emerge as winners.
HBC u11 lads, Rhys Smith & Rory Easton built on their success in Denmark by dominating all comers from Surrey, Oxfordshire, Sussex & Essex (as well as Kent) to take the Doubles title, whilst Rory defeated Rhys in the u11 boys singles final.
It was a particular pleasure to witness HBC newcomer Harry Wang partner Charlie Morgan to take the u11 boys doubles Plate title.
No surprise to see Sussex lad Adam Lam & Bucks' Johnnie Torjussen in the final of the u13 boys singles, with Adam winning a close final & for both lads to take the doubles title.
Inspired by his HBC tour of Denmark, Kristian Plender played some lovely stuff to come through a very strong field of U15 boys, eventually beating Viknesh Rajendran of Essex in a tense final.
In the girls events the form book dominated with Lydia Ip from Surrey overcoming her team-mate Gemma Atkins in the girls u11 final & Sussex's Freya Hodgson winning the u13 girls singles.
HBC's Alice Xiao & Emily Easton can both take heart from greatly improving performances & we have no doubt that they will both get BE graded next season.
The big upset of the day came in the U15 girls singles with HBC's Paige Butler succumbing to a spirited fight by Buck's Alice Torjussen in the u15 singles final.
Paige looked out of sorts, but Alice took her opportunity well & deserved the huge shield with her win.
Midlothian u10 Open
Up visiting his grandparents for the weekend, Rory Easton popped into Penicuik, near Edinburgh to show the best Scottish u10's a thing or two and came away a resounding winner in the singles before heading off for a well deserved pub lunch.
Oxfordshire u15 Open
Paige Butler almost accomplishes her first clean sweep by winning the mixed & doubles but crashes badly in the final of the singles.
Kent u14 Open
A few young HBC souls in the form of Guy Jones & Luke Bailey entered but we have yet to hear how they got on! We suspect it will be one down to experience but good luck lads......
Warwickshire u16 Rising Stars (Open)
Paige Butler narrowly loses in semi-final of ladies doubles 13-15, 13-15.
Paige reaches semi final of singles but loses out again in a close 3 setter......
HBC's Junior coaches reach All England Vet's Final.
Struggling with injury, Jo Muggeridge & Tracy Middleton reached the O40's Ladies Doubles Final but missed out on Gold in a tense 3 setter, despite having 2 match points. The girls looked strong throughout the tournament & established themselves as Britain's #1 ranked pair in their age group for their efforts but they came away very disappointed.
The annual Kent inter-regional event took place in Canterbury and TWBL fielded two U15 teams and one U19 team. The U19s (shown in photo) were overall winners of the 5 regions beating rivals Medway and Orpington in close matches. The team was: Bobby Brown, Ross Pilkington, Will Outhwaite (all HBC) and Marcus Moffat (Chelwood Gate), together with Millie Rowe and Francesca Smith (HBC) and Sophy Worsfold (Angel).
The U15 teams were weakened by their absence of the two strongest U15 girls, however still managed to field two teams with several inexperienced girls helping out and finished 4th and 5th out of the 6 teams. Most of these players will be young enough to play again next year and have hopefully enjoyed the experience. Very well done to all those who took part.
26th/27th March - the U11 and U15 Nationals - HBC's first National Medals!!
On the 26th Paige Butler reached the quarters of the U15 girls singles. In the doubles which continued over to the 27th she and her partner, Lynette Aung always looked in control of their semi final against England pair Joshmyn Bong & Brodie Miller eventually winning 21 - 12 in the 3rd. Unfortunately the girls did not produce their best in the final against the top seeds and so ended up settling for silver.
In the U11 boys singles Rory Easton easily came through his box but had to fight strong & hard against 5th seed Jeremy Lu from Win Badminton Academy in what was a tense and thrilling quarter final. Rory eventually came out a deserved winner 13-15, 15-12, 17-15, but all credit to Jeremy for putting up such a great fight in what was probably the best match of the day in the boys event. In the semi final Rory met eventual champion Zach Russ of Sussex in another tense game, but our youngster had to content himself with bronze after a 7 15, 12 15 defeat. However Rory is still U10 has another shot at this title next year.
In the doubles Rory partnered William Jones from Surrey who unfortunately injured his playing hand a day before the tourney. As such they were always up against it, but came close to reaching the semi final, narrowly losing 12 15, 12 15 against Joshlee Bong & Jack Macgregor.
However it was a fantastic weekend and these are the first ever Hildenborough National medals. Hopefully more to come in the future.
Oxfordshire U13 bronze
Terence Ng gets his grade 3
Guy Jones and Morrison Ayley win doubles gold
26th/27th Feb: Another multiple gold medal weekend!
26th Feb, Surrey U13 bronze. Alex Berry looked calm and in control to win her 2nd singles gold medal of the season and in doing so gain grade 2. She also won gold in the doubles with a partner from Dorset.
Guy Jones won through a really tough box, he eventually lost a close semi-final but the result was good enough to get grade 3.
Several other HBC U13 boys came 2nd in their boxes, Christian Bryant, Luke Bailey, Ethan Solly all very close to progressing to the knock-out phase.
In the boys doubles Ethan got a silver medal after a monumental final finishing 26-24! Several of the mixed pairs played very well as they are new to this format of the game, just a few points here and there meant no HBC players in the final, but all seemed to enjoy the experience.
Suffolk U15 bronze: Matt Bamber won gold in both singles and doubles! Both matches being decided 21-20 so it was obviously Matt's day. Shown left Matt with his doubles partner Charles Woodham.
Meanswhile at the Hatfield U17 bronze Ross Pilkington and Tom Purwar picked up more doubles gold medals - this is becoming a habit!
Also battling bravely in Gloucester Rory Easton was having a bash at an U13 silver event. He finished 2nd in his box and looks to be making progress all the time. Sunday 27th saw him staying in Gloucester for the U11 event, joined by Rhys Smith. Rhys played brilliantly in his box, losing only to the eventual winner Zach Russ. Rory picked up bronze in the singles and silver in the doubles with a new partner William Jones (Surrey). Rory and William will be playing together at the U11 Nationals on 27th March.
Finally, to finish off an already amazing weekend, Ross Pilkington travelled to the Suffolk U17 bronze on 27th Feb, proving his doubles ability with yet another doubles gold medal but playing with a different partner (Onting Poon). Ross also picked up a bronze in the singles, with Onting taking silver and Liam Bridge gold, so an all Kent 1-2-3.
Thursday 24th Feb:
After 2 days of half term training, both Ethan Solly & Luke Bailey tore through the Hampshire u13 Bronze doubles field to emerge as Winners.
Both lads deserved their victory & are here being congratulated by lead coach Jo Muggeridge.
Tuesday 22nd Feb: which ex Olympian made a guest coaching appearance at our badminton camp at Tonbridge School? Tracy Hallam of course.
Tracy took time out to put our Juniors to the test & over 20 Juniors had some court time with Tracy, Jo M & Gemma Whiting - a good run out for all.
Feb 20th 2011 - Kent u19 Open.
#2 seed, Anna Showan overcomes HBC's Paige Butler 21 11, 21 11.
Great experience for young Paige & this 3rd place should elevate her to #4 in U15 England rankings.
Feb 19th 2011 - Kent u19 Open.
14 year old starlet, Paige Butler wins through to semi-final by beating U17 Grade 1 player Nicola Burgess & #3 seed, Emma Skinsley from Essex.
Feb 12th 2011 - A Triple Golden weekend!
James Dickens and Ross Pilkington brought home gold medals from the Kent U17 bronze event. A great reasult!
Rory Easton travelled to the Berkshire U11 event. In trying conditions due to organisational chaos he fought through to the final and his first U11 singles gold!
Competing in the doubles proved a step too far (10 hours after the start of the singles event) and with a new partner he was only able to win bronze. However the singles win has brought good ranking points and possibly a break through into the top 5 in the country.
Paige Butler & Bobby Brown travelled to Bedfordshire for u17 BE Silver & lost a tight 3 setter in the 1/4 final to the eventual winners.
Bobby won his box in the singles only to again come unstuck in 3 sets, losing the last 16 18.
Paige got to the semi, losing 13 15 in the 3rd set (again!) - but a bronze medal.
Going in partner wanted for the ladies doubles, Paige partnered Martha Jones from Yorkshire & they both stormed through all before them to take GOLD.
The same weekend but on the 13th, a number of U13 boys played in the Berkshire U13 bronze. Thomas Allen reached the semi-final and has now got his Grade 3. He also earned a bronze medal in the doubles playing with Terence Ng.
Feb 6th 2011
Rory battled through to another U11 Semi-final, only to meet Zach Russ again and walk away with a bronze. More work to be done.
Rory played doubles with a less experienced player (partner wanted) and guided the pair to more bronze medals, despite having won the first end in the semi.
Jan 23rd 2011
Essex U17 Bronze - Ross Pilkington and Tom Purwar win gold!
East London U13 Bronze - Christian Bryant and Ethan Solly win bronze.
Jan 22nd 2011
Why was Jo Muggeridge absent from Sat coaching??
She was in Glasgow competing in the Scottish Open Vets ladies Doubles. Jo and doubles partner Tracey Middleton won the event adding Scottish Open title to their English National title won before Christmas.
They have now qualified to compete at the World Championships later this year (August).
Trophies being presented to Jo and Tracey by Christine Black - Scottish International.
The first automatic regradings of the year:
Matt Bamber WINS the Kent U15 bronze to gain his grade 2.
Matt narrowly defeated HBC's Tom Owen 21-18 in their 1/4 final, with Tom gaining his BE grade 3 for winning his box & beating 2 existing grade 3's in the process.
A fantastic result for both lads, and Matt topped off a good weekend with a bronze medal in the doubles.
2.01.11 Bucks U17 Silver - Ross Pilkington and Tom Purwar reach semi-finals and earn bronze medals.
12/12/10 - 3 events on this date and a number of medal winners:
Rory loses in the semi-final to Zac Russ, the eventual winner. Rory and Rhys earn bronze medals in the doubles.
Kent U17 gold
Paige earns silver medals in the singles and doubles.
Essex U13 bronze
Emily and Alex get bronze medals in the girls doubles, Guy Jones and Morrisson Ayley earn bronze as well with Christian Bryant and Ethan Solly taking silver. Well done!
Herts U13 Bronze
In a massive field of U13 boys, Rory battled all the way to the final, losing out in a close match after changing ends 11-7 ahead. Automatic grade 2 we think for Rory because of the size of the field (over 48). 9 years old and no longer allowed to enter U13 bronze events!
Thomas Allen also got out of his box and we think will earn grade 3 for that achievement.
East of Scotland Open:
Paige & partner Rachael Darragh storm thru' to final of U15 doubles by beating Scottish #1 seeds 21 10, 21 16 & they then make the Scottish #2 seeds look silly in a 21 11, 21 8 rout in the final - easy peasy girls.
Some well deserved silverware & even a cash prize to boot! Well done girl.
Veterans Doubles, Hastings. Jo Muggeridge and Tracey Middleton battle through to the final to face the No 1 seeded pair. They have to win some of these veterens events to possibly qualify for the World Finals. 3 qualifying events required.
Jo & Tracy win the doubles beating British #1 seeds in the process.....
East of Scotland U13 open - Rory through to the semi of the plate.
Crashes out of singles, but puts on a decent show in the mixed doubles, losing a close tie 21 15, 21 18 to the 2nd seeds.
East of Scotland U17 open- Paige still on track after being seeded 3 for this event, but comes across Irish U17 champion & loses in 1/4 final.
Paige gets paired with young lad in Mixed & win 3 successive matches before being told they have to play their semi-final at 8.30pm - lose it in 3, going down 22-20 in the last.
Through to semi final of U15 girls doubles playing with young U14 Irish girl.
6/11/10 Another tough match against Sevenoaks School with our U17 lads going down 6-3. Our Migo boys, Will & Henry gave their all to win 2 of their 3 matches but unfortunately a lack of concentration in the final set cost us dear as we lost 4 games in the 3rd set! Those plastic shuttles did not help either - but well done Sevenoaks.
Paige Butler goes close again in the U17 Sussex Silver losing 21-20 in the 3rd set of her singles semi-final. Last we heard Russell Field was also going close winning his first 2 games in his box, but then the mobile went dead - we need a few more roving reporters.....
Russell Field wins through his box in U17 Sussex Silver but comes unstuck against the talented Kelvin Latimer in the 1/4 finals. You should have had him lad, pull the finger oot & concentrate next time.....Ed.
28/10/10 A strong line-up for both boys & girls at the Hampshire U13 Bronze & our youngsters gave it their best shot with U10 junior Rory Easton going down fighting to the eventual finalist 21-17, U11 Rhys Smith winning 2 matches in his box - a significant achievement for someone so new to the game & U12 Luke Bailey likewise winning 2 matches in his box. Sadly none of our boys got thru' their boxes but good performances all round.
In the girls U13 event, again our younger girls put up a spirited display with Emily Easton winning 2 of her 4 matches & Alex Berry cruising (too easily) through her box to the semi-final where she came a little unstuck but loads of stuff to work on on the practise court in the future.
Some valuable lessons learned in the doubles with both Rory & Rhys and Emily & Alex losing out on a semi-final place by a single point on count-back in their boxes!
24/10/10 A packed tournament schedule with a multitude of BE medal wins by HBC Juniors across the board:
First up Paige Butler wins thru' to final of Kent U15 Gold star & loses a tense 3 setter in the final, coming away with silver.
Guy Jones then goes similarly close in Boys u13 doubles at Kent Bronze winning silver with a young lad from Devon.
Alex Berry storms thru' all before her to pick up Gold in Kent u13 Bronze girls singles before slumping in girls doubles semi-final with partner Emily Easton, just when Gold looked on the cards. Sadly a Bronze (our expectations are now high!)
To Oxfordshire U11 AGT with Rory Easton running top rated Harry Huang close in their semi-final clash in boy's singles before succumbing 11-10, 11-7 to gain a Bronze & then similarly going down 11-9, 11-10 in boy's doubles partnered with Rhys Smith who played out of his skin for the lads to get thru' their box & into the semi's - another Bronze.
Lastly, U17 Hampshire Open & whilst Ross Pilkington & Russell Field did not quite get to grips with the strong singles entrants, they teamed up in Doubles to fight hard & win GOLD in the doubles, winning the 3rd set in a tense final 25-23!
So a haul full of medals & some great performances - another big day on Thursday at Winchester in U13 Bronze....watch this space.
23/10/10 OJs Kent Circuit tournament: U15 boys doubles winners Alex Chapman and Matthew Prestage. Alex was also runner-up in the singles! Well done!
23/10/10 Paige hits everything out the back in a nervous start at U15 Kent Gold "star" & loses her first match 2-1, but bounces back to sweep a strong Kathryn Sawell off court 2-0 & progress to semi's t'moro.
17/10/10 Paige Butler wins Cwmbran U17 Gold Singles & automatically earning her BE grade 1 in U17. Well done girl! Kent U15 Gold Star event next week....would not bet against her.
17/10/10 HBC U13's go down 22-18 against a strong South Essex PC side.
16/10/10 - Paige Butler wins thru' to Semi-final in U17 Gold singles in Wales.
Finals day is tomorrow, Sunday 17th Oct. Watch this space.......
9/10/10 - HBC u13's too strong for Epsom, Surrey PC u13's.
A team of 8 lads & 5 girls from HBC largely outplayed their Surrey opposition, but a great days play was enjoyed by all. Next up South Essex on 17th Oct.
2/10/10 - HBC u17's go down fighting in a 5-4 cliffhanger to Sevenoaks U18's
19/09/10 - HBC Juniors dominate County Junior championships taking home 13 of 16 titles at Medway Park!
11/09/10 - HBC U17's hold firm against Tonbridge U18's, edging a close tie 8-7.
11/09/10 - HBC U15's cruise to 10-5 victory over Tonbridge U15's.
TWBL Open 5th June - Full results to download
19th Feb 2011, HBC v East Sussex Juniors @ Sevenoaks School.
A convincing win for Hildenborough Juniors, but some excellent competitive play from all players.
Particular mention should go to 9 year old Harry Wang playing in his first competition & beating all-comers. Like-wise our 2 debutants from Eltham Green, Russell & Jason, equipped themselves well & secured a couple of victories as well as a couple of experience enhancing losses. Well done boys.
The first friendly club match of 2011 was against East Sussex Juniors, played away at New Beacon College.
On the last occasion we played ESJBA we were overwhealmed at U15 and U17 age groups, although stronger at U11 and U13. However the tables were turned this time with a comfortable victory at U11, U15 and U17 for HBC. U13s did not play this time but hopefully will for the return match on 19th Feb.
Our team was:
U11s: Rory Easton, Rhys Smith, Matthew Walters and James Gilbert.
Notably James was playing his first club match for HBC and won all but one of his games only losing 21-20 to their best U11 boy.
U15s: Tom Owen, Chris Hubbard, Guy Jones, Nicholas Bryant, Matthew Prestage, Christian Bryant.
U17s: Will Outhwaite, Piers Jahn, Bradley Rivers, Luke Ingram, Will Migo, Henry Migo.
Congratulations all who played and thanks to ESJBA for hosting.

6/11/10 U18 friendly v Sevenoaks School
Lost 6-3, but many games going to 3 sets. Fantastic achievement by Will and Henry Migo who won 2 of their 3 games despite this being their first U18 fixture! A lesson to all who play: sheer effort and determination to win gets results when matches are close.
4/10/10 Orpington Juniors Restricted Tournament (no County players)
U15 doubles winners: Alex Chapman and Matthew Prestage
U15 singles runner-up: Alex Chapman
U13 Friendly v South Essex PC 17/10/10
A tight match with South Essex just edging past HBC to a well deserved 22-18 win. The home side took advantage of the unusual playing surface to produce some well crafted rallies on the carpet!
HBC debutant's Charles Brice, Matthew Walters & Amy Trigg put up a great fight & our whole team can't wait for the re-match (on a normal surface!)
U15/U18 Friendly versus Tonbridge School. 11/09/10
Hildenborough emerge as winners in a tight match. For full results click here.
U18 Friendly V Sevenoaks School 2/10/10
Lost a very close match 5-4. Prior to the rematch in November we will practice with plastic shuttles!!!!!
U13 Friendly v Epsom PC 9/10/10
A comfortable win & many new friendships formed with the Epsom youngsters.
Re-match will be in Nov-Dec!
19.09.10 Kent Junior restricted: HBC Juniors bring home 13 of 16 titles on offer - see dedicated section for full results.
South East England U11 team tournament - Surrey, June 2010.
With 6 Counties vying for the team trophy & H'boro supplying 9 of the 11 U11 Kent team it was a long hard day's play for our youngsters.
Notable performances came from Alex Berry (3rd in Girls singles) & Rory Easton (2nd in Boys singles) although each individual played their part in squeezing the opposition to lower down the order of merit leaving Kent outright winners by a single point.
Particular mention to debutants Luke Bailey, Thomas Allen & Alice Xiao (pictured above) who played some great badminton to help the team to victory. Well done guys - 1st time Kent has done anything in U11's for years....
Kent U14 Open, 2010:
Paige Butler with the complete set of Gold, Silver & Bronze medals following her efforts at Medway Park in April, 2010.
She emerged victorious in the U14 girls singles, the first Kent winner of a Junior Open for many a year.
We wish Paige well as she leaves HBC temporarily to take her coveted place at WIN Sports Academy, Bisham Abbey, one of only 5 Juniors on their Badminton program in 2010-11. We have high hopes she will do big things on the badminton court in the coming years. Good luck girl.
Our first team trip to Club La Santa, Lanzarote in 2010 & it was a blast. 4 hours of badminton for our youngsters each day, followed by loads of other sports to keep us busy.
It's not often Jo Muggeridge comes 2nd, but here she is, holding her certificate & it certainly has a 2 in it.....for paddle tennis!
Champion for the day was Stephan Butler & did he not remind us all constantly.......
Each member of our team got stuck into a multitude of sports & we all had a laugh picking up our certificates at prize-giving.
Our youngsters, Alex & Rory led the way in the Junior badminton championships & we're already planning a return trip in 2011.
Due to the Icelandic volcano we had 7 stranded team-mates left in the UK but we are hopeful that at least Christian
